No need to rush Archer back to Tests – Vaughan

Former England captain Michael Vaughan has warned against rushing Jofra Archer back into Test cricket too soon.

Archer has been out of action since February due to an elbow injury but has recently returned to action in T20 and one-day cricket.

Vaughan believes that Archer’s long-term fitness should be the priority, rather than rushing him back into the Test arena.

“Jofra is a key player for England but they need to think about his future and not just the upcoming series,” Vaughan said.

Archer burst onto the scene in 2019 and has since become a crucial part of England’s bowling attack in all formats of the game.

However, Vaughan believes that Archer should be managed carefully to ensure he can have a long and successful career.

“It’s important to be patient and allow Archer the time he needs to fully recover from his injury,” Vaughan added.

England are set to face New Zealand in a Test series later this year, but it remains to be seen if Archer will be fit in time to play.

Despite the temptation to rush him back, Vaughan believes that the team should prioritize Archer’s long-term health over short-term success.

Archer’s workload has been a topic of discussion in recent months, with concerns raised about his ability to cope with the demands of playing in all three formats of the game.
